RIVERSTONE LITTLE ATHLETICS CENTRE

Riverstone Little Athletics Centre is once again in focus following the naming of the athletics field at Riverstone Park as “Vernon Cross Field” to honor a long‑serving volunteer. The initiative, led by Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM, recognizes Vernon Cross’s 40 years of dedicated service since the club’s founding season in 1982. During his tenure, he served as Championship Officer until 2020, was club president from 1987, and was instrumental in improving facilities, including a new clubhouse, storage area, and upgraded field equipment. The field naming ceremony coincided with the launch of the little athletics season and underscores the club’s enduring community values. The event continues to reflect the legacy and ongoing vitality of Riverstone Little Athletics Centre in the region.
