Western Reserve Academy

Western Reserve Academy’s fencing team made a strong showing at the Ohio State Open held October 2025. Three members, including Tingyi (Lily) Zhu ’27 in women’s saber and sophomores Chase Fortuna ’27 and Alex Scott ’26 in men’s épée, faced deep competition from collegiate-level and club athletes. Zhu advanced to the round of 16 before falling to an A-rated Ohio State fencer, finishing 12th overall. Fortuna and Scott posted notable pool results—Chase 26th and Alex 24th—then both won opening elimination bouts, achieving the strongest finishes in program history: 23rd and 24th, respectively. The performances reflect continued growth and competitiveness for the Western Reserve Academy team.
