Baseball returns to Grand Junction this summer as the independent Pecos League launches its new team at Suplizio Field, the Grand Junction Razorback Suckers. The team, named after a prehistoric native fish, will open its home season on June 5 against the Roswell Invaders, following their league road debut on May 28 in Santa Fe. The selection of the Razorback Suckers name emerged from a fan contest featuring thousands of submissions and reflects local heritage. The team has also announced a series of promotional events, including dollar beer nights, glow‑in‑the‑dark games, and themed nights, to engage the community throughout the shortened season.
