Dorset Police has introduced the “Skills 4 Safer Streets” initiative, which integrates martial arts training—including Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—with educational components aimed at deterring knife crime. The initiative targeted Year 9 and Year 10 students at Twynham School in Christchurch on March 24, 2026, pairing physical discipline with awareness around the serious consequences of carrying knives. Organized collaboratively by Dorset Police, the Fire and Rescue Service, the army, BCP Council, and local gyms, the programme seeks to shift perceptions that carrying knives enhances personal safety and to promote informed, safer choices among youth.
