Westlake secured a 5‑3 victory over Sterlington in Game One of the non‑select Division III state championship series. The Rams broke open the contest with a five‑run fourth inning, highlighted by a two‑RBI bunt from Sawyer Vidrine and a two‑run hit by Brayden Ross. Although the Panthers mounted a comeback bid, Westlake’s Cooper Cryer closed out the game with a key double play in the final inning to clinch the win. Sterlington Little League’s namesake town saw its youth softball landscape echoed in high‑school level competition, as the Panthers now look to rebound in Game Two scheduled for Friday at McMurry Park in Sulphur.
