Port Adelaide Football Club has unveiled plans for a substantial mixed‑use development adjacent to Alberton Oval dubbed "Alberton Square." The scheme spans approximately 20,000 m² and incorporates commercial, residential, health and community facilities, designed by Cox Architecture and supported by private investors and the AFL. The club has already acquired 26 residential properties between Alberton Oval and Port Road, and will proceed with formal planning approvals to integrate the precinct with the club’s high‑performance and community sport infrastructure. This initiative forms part of the club’s strategy to future‑proof its finances and solidify Alberton Oval’s role as its spiritual and operational home. “The concept … has been developed to future‑proof Port Adelaide for generations to come … and ensure Alberton is our home for at least the next 150 years,” stated club leadership.
