Newton Athletic Boosters has partnered with Jasper County Boys & Girls Ball Park to launch a Queen of Hearts fundraising drawing aimed at replacing and upgrading the aging lighting system at the park’s large baseball diamond. Installed in 1970, the existing metal‑halide lights have deteriorated, preventing the high school from hosting night games in recent seasons. The booster club and community aim to fund replacement of the main field lights and upgrade two additional diamonds to energy‑efficient LEDs, enhancing safety and usability. The fundraising effort taps into long‑standing support for youth baseball and softball in Newton and surrounding areas, with hopes of returning nighttime play to the facility and preserving its role as a pillar of local sports development.
