Turner’s launch of the TBS superstation in 1973 transformed the Atlanta Braves from a regional team into a national entity by broadcasting their games across the country, a shift that Raphael credited with helping foster generations of fans and sustaining local venues such as Luther Williams Field. He noted that many in the community first encountered baseball through Turner’s groundbreaking broadcasts, a legacy that endures in the continued support for teams like Macon Bacon. The team’s 2026 season is set to commence later this month.
