First Tee Birmingham - Youth on Course

First Tee Birmingham – Youth on Course continues to enhance youth access to golf and character development through recent school-based programming. According to The Birmingham Times, the club’s school programs served approximately 175 children on course through partnerships with Birmingham City Schools, Jefferson County Schools and Hoover, and expanded outreach to YMCAs and Freedom School locations. The club’s interim executive director and board chair, Carlos Carter, affirmed that, overall, more than 10,000 young people are served annually through these combined initiatives. The club leverages golf to impart life skills such as perseverance, collaboration and judgment to youth across multiple sites in the metro area.
