The improved surface followed community-backed funding efforts to replace the 20‑year‑old field, which had become a safety concern due to drainage issues and surface deterioration. The new turf offers enhanced accessibility, including cooler temperatures and better wheelchair mobility, reinforcing inclusive participation within the region’s baseball and softball community — including programs like the Orlando Baseball League. League leaders are now focusing on securing accessible bathroom facilities to further support athletes with disabilities.
