Parks and Recreation officials have advanced a proposal to the Community Preservation Committee seeking approximately $625,000 to fully reconstruct the aging Little League facilities at Freedom Field – Cohasset Little League’s baseball and softball home. The plan includes replacing deteriorated backstops with padded lower sections and removable netting, upgrading perimeter fencing to bonded black fencing, and installing new dugouts, batting cages, bleachers, and a scoreboard. The infields, previously improved with nearly 250 tons of infield mix, remain in need of further investment, prompting recommendation for full replacement. The proposal will move forward through CPC and town governance processes for funding consideration.
