City SC Carlsbad’s U14 Gold team secured the Southern California State Cup on February 28, defeating Irvine Slammers 2‑1 in the championship at Silverlakes Sports Complex in Norco. The victory marked the club’s first boys’ State Cup title in nearly a decade. Carlsbad went undefeated throughout the month‑long Super Cup competition, recording six wins and one draw. In the final, Evan Escobedo opened the scoring with a long‑range goal assisted by Peter Allen, and Caleb Lion sealed the win with a corner‑kick strike. The team’s defense, anchored by goalkeeper Yusuf Tabet with three penalty‑save semi‑finals, played a key role in their success. The team has also won five tournament championships this season, highlighting a strong campaign for the club. The club’s U14 Gold side continues to set a high standard for City SC Carlsbad this year.
