Lachine Canoe Club

The Lachine Canoe Club’s region recently hosted the 18th annual Polar Bear Challenge along the Lachine Canal, where Montreal’s mayor, Public Security Minister, and SPVM officers participated in a fundraiser by diving into icy waters. The event, supporting Special Olympics Québec, raised efforts toward a goal of CA$115,000 and has raised over CA$300,000 in the past three years. Water temperatures were reported between 2 °C and 3 °C, while air temperatures reached approximately −17 °C. The activity underscored the continued use of the Lachine Canal for community sporting events related to water sports in the region.
