SSF Obernkirchen reported strong performances during the 2026 German Ice Swimming Championships held in Neuhermsdorf. The event, which also served as the final station of the German Ice Cup and a World Cup event for the 2025/26 season, featured extremely cold conditions, with water temperatures recorded at approximately 2.3 °C in a forest lake at about 800 m elevation.
