The Kansas City Royals have announced plans to relocate from Kauffman Stadium to a new downtown facility in the Crown Center area, in partnership with Hallmark Cards. The proposed mixed‑use development, estimated at $3 billion with a $1.9 billion ballpark as its centerpiece, will occupy approximately 85 acres and will be funded through approximately two‑thirds private investment and one‑third public contributions. The club’s owner, John Sherman, joined local and state officials for the announcement, underscoring the team’s commitment to remaining in Missouri. Groundbreaking is targeted for 2027, pending financing and community agreements.
