San Diego Baseball continued its Major League Baseball presence as the San Diego Padres claimed their first win of the 2026 season, shutting out the Detroit Tigers 3–0 at Petco Park on March 28. Starter Randy Vásquez delivered six scoreless innings, striking out eight while scattering two hits. Aided by two relievers, the pitching staff combined for 13 strikeouts to stifle Detroit’s offense. Ramon Laureano contributed with a standout performance at the plate, tallying three hits, including a 104 MPH liner that nearly cleared the park. The team’s ‘City Connect’ jerseys and reliever Mason Miller’s entrance song remain highly anticipated in early April. The club continues to build momentum in its home opener sequence.
