Set along the Fox River, the club changed hands this winter as McHenry Golf Club Properties LLC, owned by local businessman Edward Hinz, completed a roughly $2 million purchase on Jan. 30, 2025, and rebranded the facility as McHenry Golf Club. The City Council approved a liquor license to cover the transition between restaurant operators; Buddyz has been handling service under a catering license while a planned Addison’s Steakhouse location remains pending [1].

In May, KemperSports was selected to manage the 18‑hole course, adding the club to its Chicago‑area portfolio with an emphasis on membership growth, course enhancements and member engagement [2][3].

The club marked its 100th anniversary in 2022, tracing roots back to 1922, and it holds a niche in equipment history through early metal‑wood experimentation by local pro Gary Adams that helped spark what became TaylorMade [4][5].
