McDermott Baseball continues to benefit from developments at the McDermott Athletic Center in Rio Rancho. The facility’s owner, Michael McDermott, presented a proposal on June 10, 2025, to the city’s Planning and Zoning Board seeking approval to install a 16,000-square-foot turf field adjacent to the existing complex. The board granted unanimous approval, and the proposal is now pending final approval from the Rio Rancho Governing Body. The planned turf field aims to support a range of sports including baseball and softball, addressing limited field availability and enhancing practice resources for McDermott Baseball and other local teams.
